Try to steer clear of giving away too much information too early unless you really feel comfortable doing so. It’s too easy to let yourself get wrapped up in the excitement of talking to a potential future partner. You will know when it’s right to take it a step further and arrange that first date.

Always meet in a public place and stay in a public place. It’s not always necessary to go out for an evening either, how about an afternoon coffee somewhere. Meet at a time and on a day that's convenient. Be suspicious if your date insists on odd hours unless they have a legitimate reason to do so.

Tell Someone About It!
Always tell a friend or relative about where you are going and who with. Give them your dates name and if possible their contact info but let them know you’re doing so out of courtesy. Knowing that someone is looking out for you is good for both parties.

The way you dress speaks volumes, don’t be too over the top and don’t dress too provocatively. Dress in something that is comfortable but smart.

Do not accept a lift from your date. Always meet at your chosen venue, if you can’t get there under your own steam then don’t go.

Keep your mobile with you and switched on. If you move to a different venue, call or text message a friend to keep them updated. Get your friend or relative to call you at a preset time, if things are going well then great but if not the call will give you an excuse to leave.

In simple terms don’t do it! A drink isn’t going to hurt but getting drunk probably will, besides your date may not take too kindly to you being under the influence.

Keep valuables with you at all times and keep an eye on your drinks too!


Get Help
If it doesn’t feel right then leave, if you feel uncomfortable or your date is making you feel uneasy then you can always text your friend to call you with that excuse to leave but don’t let your date escort you anywhere if you don’t really want to.
